So fifty years after the Tsar, Russian living standards were better? Would that not be the case of any state transitioning from 19th to 20th century acculumation of technology and knowledge? A more fair comparison would how did living standards compare to that of the US/UK/Germans?So why was the living standard of Russians far higher in the 1970s and 80s than it was during Tsarist times? Indeed, Russian life expectancy is still not at high today as it was in 1970.
Or a comparison between of the living standards of the Brits to West Germans in the 50s and 60s? Both recipents of US Marshall Aid, both damaged and impoverished by WW2 but Socialistic government in the UK decided to piss thier money away in welfarist policies whilst the German put it into thier industries.
