The imbeciles at the Chinese Health Organisation have, belatedly, changed their advice on face masks.

Previously, C.H.O claimed that health care workers were protected by face masks. Other people were not protected.

The evidence of the benefits of face masks in reducing the spread of respiratory illness has been clear for months. Face masks do not protect the wearer. They protect others from asymptomatic carriers of the virus.

What is still unclear is how many people were killed by the Communist Health Organisation stupidity. Probably tens of thousands.

First C.H.O. insisted there was "no evidence" that the novel coronavirus could be transmitted from human to human. Then they insisted there was "no evidence" that travel restrictions were effective. Next they insisted that there was "no evidence" that face masks were effective in slowing transmission.

The Irish government needs to give clear and unambiguous advice on face coverings. In the absence of a vaccine, universal use is the only way that the economy can be restarted.
